Olympic standard Yemmekere swimming pool all set for inauguration

Mangaluru, Nov 13, 2023: The Olympic standard international swimming pool constructed at a cost of Rs 24.94 crore at Yemmekere will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on November 24.

Informing this to reporters here, Speaker U T Khader said the CM will also be inaugurating a three-day National Masters Swimming Championship 2023 the same day. The event will be held in association with Karnataka Swimming Association, he said.

The swimming pool complex has a competition pool and a training pool apart from a kids pool. The complex has a spectator seating capacity of 400 and has underwater lighting, overflow channels and lane dividers.

The positioning of the pool at +7.0 of deck level facilitates parking of vehicle at the basement.

As many as 700 people have registered for the 19th Masters Swimming Championship, Khader said.

Former MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA J R Lobo and others were present at the press meet.
