Udupi, Mar 24, 2015 : The Labour Department officials of the town who acted upon complaints from the public, raided a goldsmith’s shop near Shet building here and rescued two minors who were working as helpers to the goldsmiths.
It is learnt the two boys are form West Bengal. They have been entrusted to the custody of Spoorthidhama.
The raid was conducted by HP Jnanesh, Labour Officer, Prabhaker Achar, Director of Udupi District Child Labour Society, Yogish, Kiran Babu of the District Children’s Protection Cell and others.
Earlier the authorities had rescued nine child workers from Rajasthan in Padubidri and surrounding areas.
