Udupi, Dec 2, 2018: The DCIB police led by inspector Sampath Kumar arrested a notorious inter-district temple thief, Narasimharaju alias Basavaraju alias Raju from Doddaballapura taluk of Bengaluru rural district.
The 41-year-old was allegedly involved in several temple thefts at Brahmavar, Karkala, Shivapura, Bengaluru, Tumakuru and Dakshina Kannada districts. The police have recovered 7 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 2,07,000 from him.
He was involved in thefts reported at Sri Mahavishnu Mahalingeshwara temple, Keelinje, Karkala, Ninjoor Guru Nithyananda Bhajana Mandir, Shivapura Brahma Baidarkala Garadi and Karkala Yennehole Sri Ganesha Mandira.
The police nabbed him when he was in Doddaballapura. He had robbed four temples in Udupi district and 10 temples in Dakshina Kannada district. He had 14 cases registered against him and he was absconding despite the court issuing warrants against him.
