Mangaluru, Mar 29,2017: State Bus Operators Federation President Rajavarma Ballal has said that there would be no private bus strike in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on March 30 and that bus services would be as usual in view of SSLC exams. It may be recalled here that lorry, taxi, maxicab and private bus operators associations have given a strike call on March 30 in support of several of their demands.
Ballal was speaking at a joint meeting of the Canara Bus operators Association, DK Bus Operators Association and Udupi Bus Operators Association here on March 28, Monday.
The transport associations had earlier decide to go on a strike to oppose the Union Government policies resulting in a hike in insurance premium, vehicle tax and such other policies oppressing the transport industry.
Despite not participating in the strike bus operators from both the districts will be part of the protest rally to be held at Freedom Park on March 31, Ballal informed.
The meeting held in Mangaluru was attended by Udupi Bus Operators’ Association President Kuyilady Suresh Nayak, DK Bus Operators Association President Azeez Parthippady, Contract Carriage Bus Operators Association President Jayaram Shekha and others.
