No electricity connection at newly opened pre-paid auto counter

Mangaluru, July 18, 2015: If the opening of the much demanded pre-paid autorickshaw counter at the Mangaluru Junction Railway Station had pleased many initially, the happiness has not lasted long as reports now indicate that the counter lacks some basic amenities.

B Vinod, President of Willy’s Auto Park who has agreed to operate the counter for a service fee of just Re 1 has said that   in the absence of electricity supply, the counter can operate just during day time. He even pointed out how he had to open the counter’s door by force on Wednesday as none had its keys.

Anand Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Palakkad on being informed about the problem due to absence of electricity connection, said the Railways will make the arrangement provided the District Administration would pay the power bills.

Meanwhile, Vinod pointed out that there was a need to deploy police personnel near the counter considering the fact that there is a unhealthy competition between taxi operators and autorickshaw operators.

Reacting to the issue, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim stated that a meeting would be convened next week to discuss the problem.
