Mangalore, July 28, 2013: Niddodi stood up united against the proposed 4000 mw ultra mega thermal power plant in the village, at a massive protest organized at Niddodi Junction on July 28, Sunday. Thousands participated in a hunger strike organized as part of the protest.
Alphonse D’Souza, President of Mathrubhoomi Horata Samiti, said the proposed mega project will destroy fertile land and soil of Niddodi and will render thousands homeless. He also came down heavily on political leaders for not trying to give a clear picture to them regarding the project.
The protestors also launched a post card agitation wherein post cards will be posted to the Chief Minister asking him to shelve the project.
Hasiru Sene District Convener Dayananda Shetty Sheikh Abdulla, Convenor of Apne Desh. TN Ramesh, President of Consumers Forum, members and leaders of Mathrubhoomi Samrakshana Samithi and others took part in the protest.
