CMC President Bannanje said that the present CMC office on Kavi Muddanna Road was congested. So, it had become necessary to construct a new office. The Old Taluk Office area was centrally located. A detailed project report of the new building was ready.

The new offices will have ground plus three floors. It will be a spacious high-tech building with state-of-the-art facilities. There will be a separate multi-level parking facility at the new premises. The approval for the construction of the new building was in the final stages. A commercial complex would be constructed in place of the existing CMC office.

The District Central Library, which was also located within the present CMC office, would be shifted. A new building for the District Central Library would be constructed at Ajjarkad on 12 cents of land at a cost of Rs. 5 crore.

The CMC was also planning to charge a user fee for the disposal of garbage. There would be two separate fees – one for households and another for commercial establishments. The fee would depend on the quantum of waste produced by each party. Public views would be called on this issue. It would take some time to put systems in place to impose this fee, she said.

In reply to a question, Meenakshi Bannanje said that to tackle the problem of the stray dog in the city, a survey of dogs would be conducted and a committee would be set up to look into the issue. The road from Syndicate Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s office would get a face lift.
