Mangaluru, Dec 13, 2019:    People responsible for hosting New Year parties need all caution this time around. It is  mandatory to  submit applications to the Police Commissioner’s office by 4 pm of December 24 and seek permission. Strict action will be taken against those who observe New Year celebrations without prior permission.   Hotel, restaurant, club, resort and members of various associations should strictly adhere to rules and regulations during New Year celebrations, said city Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha.

The organisers have to take all precautionary measures including fire fighting equipment at the venue and avail permission from the Excise Department to serve liquor.

The permission to serve liquor should be submitted to the commissioner’s office. The commissioner warned of strict action against hotels, clubs and organisers for allowing parking by the roadside.

They should not serve liquor to people aged below 18 years or permit them inside clubs, hotels without their parents. The organisers should initiate precautions to ensure no untoward incidents occur during the celebrations, he said.

Music at the venue should be restricted to that space only, and not violate Noise and Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000. Nude dances and gambling are banned. Police have formed a team to prevent miscreants from misbehaving with women.

No one will be allowed to consume alcohol and smoke in public places and police will be manning various areas and take action against  motorists engaging in  stunts and driving in a drunken state.

A team has been constituted to check driving in an inebriated state across the city.He cautioned youth against indulging in wheeling and drag racing. It is time that controls are implemented reasonably feel citizens.
