Never asked for arrest of actor Darshan, clarifies Women’s Commission Chief

Mangaluru, Mar 10, 2016 : Karnataka Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa has clarified that she has never asked for the arrest of sandalwood star Darshan in connection with the development wherein his wife Vijayalakshmi had approached the police seeking to warn Darshan who reportedly abused her.
Speaking to reporters here on March 10, Thursday, she said the Commission had taken up thecae suo moto and has exercised its power to lodge a complaint. She also stated that the Commission has summoned the couple and added it has the power to counsel the couple.
She also pointed out that there has been a rise in cases of sexual harassment, domestic violence and trafficking of women. So far the Commission has received 2,818 cases, she informed.
