Udupi, Feb 16, 2015 :  Kudlu, which received negative label for being the home of a Maoist, Vikram Gowda, has continued to remain underdeveloped even after so many years for irrational reason.


naxalThe narrow main road and dusty areas are the common features in the tiny hamlet situated remote from Hebri. Most basic facilities are absent totally, with no schools and hospitals.  Hope for minimum basic ameneties is fading. Also the reality of government’s apathetic attitude towards them has made matters worse.


Many small streams flowing all over the villiage, dense forest on either side,  Poorly situated houses make-up the little village. The inhabitants despair in the administrative apathy.   Even small grocery items are available only 5 kilometres away.

Women who struggle to meet lives needs have to leave their houses early morning and walk through the dust roads giving rise to many illnesses. 

A long time resident  states that he had not seen a single naxal in Kudlu in near a decade. He added that earlier they would come, posing as common people. However, in recent in recent times there is no such incidents. He went on to say,  that Maoist-affected areas should be developed and people in the region should be ensured security against the Naxals. He added that police do not harass residents.

Recently, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr Vishal said that government had not allotted any funds under the naxal rehabilitation package. However, the pending funds from the previous allotments are being efficiently used. One and all appeal for due consideration for Kudlu.
