When  Shivakumar was questioned in the court as to why he shouted slogans in the court premises he defended himself saying he needed publicity as he was the leader of a political party.

The Kutlur incident had taken place on November 8, 2013 when a group of around 10 to 15 armed assailants had  knocked at the doors of Ramachandra Bhat, a former member of Naravi GP.  But when Bhat refused to open the door, they  had torched the two vehicles.
