Udupi, Dec 26, 2019:  Speaking at National Consumer Day organised by the Udupi district administration, department of food and civil supplies, information and public relations, district consumer grievances redressal forum, Balakedarara Vedike and district consumer information centre, at Valakadu Government High  School;  Udupi DC, G Jagadeesha said that consumers should collect bill while purchasing any products, this helps to avoid getting cheated .

“A few consumers in a bid to avoid GST ask for a product without the bill. If the product faces any deficiency, then it can not be replaced without the receipt,” he said. And urged the students to mandatorily collect a bill for every purchase made.

He said that the consumers should also verify the date of manufacture while purchasing any product. If a consumer is cheated, then he should approach consumer grievance redressal forum for justice. Consumers have their own rights and duties.  Taluk Panchayat President Neetha Gururaj Poojary, Damodar Aithal of Balekadarara Vedike and others were  present.
