Narayana Sabhahit appointed as new Registrar of Manipal University

Manipal: September 22, 2015: Narayana Sabhahit, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), hitherto Director Admissions, will be the new Registrar of Manipal University from September 23.

Dr. Sabhahit takes charge from Dr G.K. Prabhu, Professor Biomedical Engineering, who will be the next Director of MIT.

Dr. Sabhahit, who has a doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, has 27 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and administration. He joined MIT in 1988 as a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering after completion of M. Tech.

During his tenure as Director-Admissions, he has contributed in strengthening the admission process.

He has also coordinated B. Tech online common counselling for Manipal Group of Institutions.

Dr Prabhu, with a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, joined MIT as lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1989 and has served the institute in various capacities.

Dr Prabhu did his M. Tech degree in Biomedical Engineering in MIT with first rank from Mangalore University (1994).

Dr. Prabhu takes charge as Director of MIT from Vinod V. Thomas, who is also Professor in Department of Electricals and Electronics Engineering. Dr. Thomas moves to the position of Additional Registrar Evaluation till he takes over as Registrar Evaluation from P. Laxminarayana Rao on May 1.

Srikanth Rao, Joint Director of MIT, who is also Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, will be the new director Admissions, the release added.
