NRI blackmailing case: Kasargod cops arrest 2 more accused

Kasargod, May 21, 2014: Two more persons have been arrested on the charges of blackmailing an NRI  after forcing him to pose nude with a woman and threatening to upload the photos on social media if he did not heed to their demand for Rs 30 lakhs. The arrests were made on May 20, Tuesday.

Those arrested are the prime accused Ahmed Owais (22) of Parekatte and KH Samina (25) of Mangad. The police who acted on a tip off arrested the two while they were on way to some place in an autorickshaw.

Earlier the police had arrested Abdul Rahman alias Annan (32) of Pallikere, Harshad (25) and Naseeda (32) of Trikkaripura. Polce are on the lookout for four more wanted in this case.

The incident had taken place on April 24 when the woman in the gang telephoned the NRI hailing from Kanhangad after befriending him over the past few days. On her invitation the NRI arrived and he was taken to a house at Kasargod Chowki were they forced him to pose nude with the woman and clicked photographs. They also robbed a cash of Rs 17000 in his possession apart from his mobile phone and watch. Though they initially demanded Rs 30 lakh later they asked him to pay Rs 9 lakh at the bus stand area the same night. However the NRI who managed to escape from their clutches had  lodged a police complaint.
