Mangaluru, June 15, 2020: Mangaluru’s historic University College (erstwhile Government College) has secured a spot among the top 200 colleges list in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Union Human Resources Development Ministry recently. With this achievement, the University College is one among the six colleges of Karnataka which have secured a spot in the top 200 colleges list.
The University College also has the credit of being the second educational institution in the district to make it to the ranking. St Aloysius College of Mangaluru is the other institution which has secured a spot within the top 150 colleges list.
The University College of Mangaluru which had celebrated its post centenary golden jubilee (1868-2018) in February this year is the second oldest government college in Karnataka.
This erstwhile Government College had become a constituent college of Mangalore University in 1993 and came to be known as University College.
The College has bagged the College with Potential Excellence-CPE recognition of UGC in 2017-18.
