Mangalore, July 4, 2013 : Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo visited the NH stretch from Pumpwell to Kottara Chowky on July 3, Wednesday to look into the problems that have arisen during the Highway extension works. Lobo was accompanied by NH Authority officials who briefed the MLA on the progress of the works.
On this occasion, Sriram Mishra, Project Director of NHAI informed the MLA that the fly over works at Maroli will be completed by August end. The officer also informed that the construction of the fly over is in the final stages and will be open for traffic by August end. He also stated that the proposed over bridge at Nantur Junction on the road leading towards Pumpwell from KPT on the NH 66 is under consideration and a decision would be taken after talks with the authorities concerned.
On this occasion locals expressed their ire over the fact that the road leading to Maroli has turned from bad to worse during the extension works in the land allocated for a bus terminus at Nantur. They pointed out that the road towards Jayanagar, Vasanthnagar, Holyhill and Sooryanarayana Temple have been cut off hitting hard several residents of the area.
Jaya Nayak, a local resident also pointed out that several interior pathways used by over 40 families near Tarethota on the Nantur-Pumpwell road have been affected.
Speaking on the occasion, JR Lobo said the Authorities have been directed to solve all problems arising out of the Highway extension works and assured that the problems would be solved at the earliest.
The MLA also visited Bajjodi and the Little Sisters Orphanage and urged the officials to construct proper temporary drains for the smooth flow of rain waters.
