Mysterious stone markings brings in fear among Niddodi residents

Moodbidri, July 09, 2014:  Mysterious survey markings on stones found  at  several places spread over hundreds of acres of land in Kolattaru of Niddodi village of Kallamundkur Gram Panchayat limits has given rise to untold fears in the minds of the villagers.

 

 

The markings and digits are mentioned in white, green and blue colours on the stones. Women who had been to the area to collect greens noticed the markings on the stones and informed the Mathrubhoomi Horata Samithi members.

The Samithi office bearers inspected the spot and found such markings on stones in Tenkamijar, Badagamijar, Nidddoi border areas. In some places, stones were dumped in one place and the digits mentioned on them.

 There is an arrow mark and numbers  like 971,974 are written on these stones. The latest development has brought in fresh fears that the land may be acquired for some other project. It still remains a mystery as to who made the markings.

The Samithi members have enquired the Tahsildar, forest department and panchayat authorities who have said they have no information.

It may be worth mentioning here that a 4000 mw ultra mega thermal power plant was proposed in Niddodi a couple of years ago, but some time back the DK District Minister had said the project has been dropped. But the fresh fear that is gaining ground is that officials were trying to make arrangements towards implementation of the project in a hush hush manner.
