Mangaluru, Apr 13, 2018: A Muslim woman who was experiencing labour pain gave birth to a child in a head constable’s car on outskirts of the city on April 12.
Head Constable Ravi Kumar, connected to Vamanjoor Police Station was returning after of dropping his children to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Yekkuru, when he saw an upset Muslim family. When he approached them, he was informed that their daughter was having labour pain and was experiencing extreme discomfort travelling in an auto hired by them.
Ravi Kumar immediately took the woman and her family in his car. Enroute to the hospital, the woman gave birth to thechild in the car itself at Pumpwell circle. The two ladies who went with the pregnant woman helped her in the delivery.
She was later admitted to Fr Muller Hospital. Both the child and mother are said to be fine.
Addressing the media Ravi Kumar stated, "We should always be ready to help others at difficult times, irrespective of caste or religion. Such a mindset will acquire peace in the soceity." Naushad, sibling of the lady while appreciating the gentle policeman’s gesture said that humanity should precede everything else.
