Mangalore, August 2: It was a memorable day for the Mangaloreans who have participated in the ‘Golden memories of Yesteryear’ event to pay tribute to the legendary singer Jim Reeves. The event was held at the Ocean Pearl Hotel on Sunday August 1.

Since 2003, Max Karkada along with his friends Arun Shiri, Titus Noronha, Richie Lasrado, Denzil Karkada, Rohan Shiri, Weltha’s have kept the legend of Jim’s music in Mangalore alive. Last year the same function was held at Bharath Mall.  


The music Band consists of international fame Jerome on Bass, Oscar Weltha on Key Board, Sax and Accordion, Manoj Lazarus of Taj Group, Arun Shiri of Ashiba Group,  Sunil of Film and TV fame and Melwyn Fernandes on the Drums, Cloy Carvello with special effects, Denzil Karkada, one of the most senior music teachers of Mangalore on the Violin, Nizil Simon, famous TV and Film musician from Kerala accompanied by Theo Alvares from Goa on the Trumpet and Sax, Gladson Maben popularly known as Babla on the Accoustic Guitar, Rajgopal, again with Film and TV fame on the Lead Guitar with Shailesh Fredrick and Angelina Moras on the Harmony.


The crooners comprised Amabel, Love Joy and Max Karkada have also thrilled the fans with many a tremendous song by Brotherhood of Man, The Carpenters, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Freddy Fender, Shakin’ Stevens, Pussy Cat, Lynn Anderson, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey , Connie Frances,  Tony Orlando and Dawn, Paul Anka.


The last song was the "Good Night Irene Goodnight’ by Max. The entire programme was ended at 11.30. The most surprised song in the show was the ‘Ramaya’ which also forced the music lovers to say ‘once more’.
