Murder of 70 year old woman in city lodge : the accused produced in the court

Mangalore, Jan 23, 2014: The accused in the murder of a 70 year old woman from Kerala in a lodge at KS Rao Road in Mangalore has been produced in the court today evening, January 23, 2014

Bunder police investigating the case have arrested one person named Ravindran  from Kerala in connection with the murder. The police said that Ravindran was with Aelikutty, a resident of Alokode in Kannur district in a lodge room in which her body was found dead on January 17, 2014.

K Ravindran (60) from Taliparamba  near Kannur in Kerala was arrested two days back and was brought to Mangalore yesterday. The police have also recovered the jewellery  of the deceased woman which he had taken away after the crime.

 

 

 

It may be recalled here that the body of Aelikutty(70),  a resident of Alakod near Payyanur in Kannur district of Kerala was found in a decomposed state in the lodge on January 17. The woman  had taken the room on January 14. However, when the room was not opened for two days, the lodge staff grew suspicious and had informed the police. On opening the door,  Aelikutty was found dead. 

 

The police said that Ravindran knew Aelikutty for more than 10 years. He used to borrow money from her. They came to Mangalore together and took the room in the lodge. He killed her and left the lodge locking from outside. The CC camera in the lodge had his pictures and with the help of this the police was able to trace the culprit. The police were able to recover a few of the stolen articles from him.
