Mangaluru, May 25,2017 : The DK District Municipal Workers and Fourth Division Employees Association staged a protest in front of the DC office here on May 25, Thursday in support of several of their demands including regularisation of the services of 42 municipal workers who have been working on a temporary basis for the city corporation since the past 25 years without any job security. The protestors alleged that despite several appeals to the MCC and the government no step was taken to regularise their services.
Apart from the above, 35 employees working in the drainage section of the MCC and another 760 working for Antony Waste Handling too were serving on a temporary basis, the workers complained and demanded that the services of all these workers as well as the services of municipal workers in other local bodies across the district should be regularised within 15 days. They have also threatened to resort to severe protest from June 12 by suspending work if their demands were not fulfilled.
The agitators have also submitted a memorandum to the DC enlisting their demands.
