Mulki : A fun swim turns tragic for 15 yr old Akshay

Mulki, Feb 3, 2014 : A fun swim with friends turned tragic for Akshay (15), Class IX student of the CSI School of Mulki who drowned in the lake at Kenchanakere on February 2, Sunday afternoon. It is learnt, he did not know swimming.

mulki 1 Akshay who stayed in the Pre-Matric boys hostel at KS Rao Nagar, had left the hostel along with his hostel mates Kiran, Aruna, Ganesh and Hanumantha Poojari after telling the hostel cook that they would go to a nearby shop. But the boys had instead headed towards Kenchanakere and decided to make merry.

When Akshay who did not know swimming started drowning, the other boys raised an alarm.

Though locals rushed towards the lake and lifted Akshay out of the lake, he died while being taken to the hospital.

It is learnt, the hostel warden was on leave on Sunday.

The deceased boy was the son of Indesh and Vinoda couple who hailed from Kallalli in Chikmagalur district.
