Mangalore, June 13, 2014: The great  city of M’lore just got better - it has now the biggest multiplex with PVR Cinemas commencing shows June 12. A floor space of 38,000 sqft , this state-o-the-art  multiplex has 1169 seats with a view of 6 screens. You can find this movie place at Forum Mall developed by Prestige Mangalore Retail Ventures Pvt Ltd in the heart of the city not far from Nehru Maidan in Pandeshwar.

Rajinder Singh, regional manager (operations - south) said PVR Cinemas now has spots in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Vijayawada and Mangalore is the newest one. PVR Cinemas’ next venture in Karnataka - at Mysore is almost ready, he said, adding Mysore property will have 4 screens with 1100 seats. Plans are advanced to start multiplex at Udupi.

In Bangalore, PVR Cinemas will take its number to 8 soon. The property at Regalia Mall at Janasandra will be the first to take off in the next four to six months,  Zander Mall at Mahadevapura and Vaishnavi Mall at Rajajinagar in Bangalore will be functional in next six-eight months, he said, adding number of screens and seating will boom very soon. Referring to its launch here, Singh said it has been strategically planned to cater to the requirement of not only the city’s population but also attract cinema lovers from nearby  Udupi, Manipal and Karwar. PVR Cinemas will also support local Tulu language films given its popularity and pull with local cinema going crowd. As PVR expands its operations all over India, this launch takes PVR’s screen count to 427 in 98 cinemas in 42 cities in India.


With the large scale technological development in the country, PVR Cinemas offers an advance variation of technology as the multiplex boasts of its 2K digital projection and 3D enabled screens. On ticketing, Rajinder said while 25% of booking is done online, the rest is at the box office. In the South market, the number of cine goers booking tickets online is 40-45%, which is the highest for any of the regions that PVR operates. So, its going to be better for movie goers and many will hop on the band wagon.
