Mangaluru June 26, 2016 : In the wake of the recent tragic road mishap at Trasi in Kundapur that claimed eight tender lives, the management of the Mount Carmel Central School in Mangaluru convened a meeting of drivers of all vehicles bringing school children as well as parents on June 25, Saturday to discuss ways and means to ensure that safety norms are in place while ferrying school children.
Sr. Melissa A.C. Principal who spoke at the meeting sought the active co-operation of all the drivers as well as the parents in preventing road accidents involving kids.
M Nataraj, Inspector in Kavoor Police Station and Umesh Kumar, Sub-Inspector spoke on the safety measures which should be taken by the school vehicle drivers. The officers also assured full support from his Department to ensure prevention of accidents. They also gave an enlightening talk on drug abuse and its ill-effects on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse.
On the occasion, the school authorities also elicited information about the names, address, telephone numbers and other details of the drivers of the vehicles carrying children as also the number of children they bring to school during each trip.
