Moodbidri: ’Alva’s Pragati’ gets jobs for many

Moodbidri, June 22, 2015: On the second and final day of ’Alva’s Pragati’, a two-day state level job fair organized by Alva’s Education Foundation here on June 21, Sunday. Of 13,380 candidates who registered online, a total of 4,900 have been selected over the two days by about 275 established firms that came looking for potential employees at the job fair.

This included 2,290 candidates who were shortlisted on day one, and 2,615 candidates selected june 21, noted Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation. This incidentally is the sixth edition of the event.

Companies that participated in the job fair include Oracle, IBM, TCS, Amazon, Biocon, Adani group, Flipkart, TechMahindra, Taj Group, ICICI Bank, Wipro, TVS, AllCargo, Standard Chartered Bank, Axis Bank, Kirloskar Electric, Idea, Vodafone, Reliance, Suzlon, Ericsson, Manipal Group and Wonderla. These companies made spot offers to 622 candidates. Idea cellular shortlisted about 75 BE candidates for network engineer positions. TCS was hired BSc/ BCA candidates.

Kirloskar Electric shortlisted  BE (Electrical/Mechanical) candidates along with diploma and ITI candidates. Standard Chartered Bank hired BCom candidates and offered a package of up to Rs 6 lakh per annum. NMC hired graduates with a package of up to Rs 4.8 lakh. JCR Drillsol hired mechanical engineers at a package of Rs 2 lakh per annum.

Sarvesh Rao, of Alva’s College, Moodbidri, completing  BSc this year, son of Sadashiva N Rao and Saroja D S from Kashipatna, Shirthady attended the event.  By evening he had seven job offers on hand.
