Moodbidri, May 27, 2016: A Bhajarangdal activist named Sumith Raj Daregudde has been arrested by the Moodbidri Police for allegedly having links with some persons who were apprehended last week on the charges of hatching a murder plot.
Police led by CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza had arrested three persons from Mangaluru named Subhash, Raviraj and Nataraj at Moodbidri Swaraj Maidan last week and had seized their Maruti Omni van, a sword and 2 machetes.
Interrogations of the trio had revealed that they had planned to kill a person from Moodbidri as per the instructions of Bombay Kiran Shetty.
It is learnt, he was also involved in the untoward incidents reported from the town some time back in the aftermath of the murder of Prashanth Poojari, a flower vendor and Bhajarangdal activist and in cases of assault with regard to illegal cattle trafficking incidents.
Sumith Raj has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
