Moodabidri: September 19, 2015: Nineteen-year-old Niveditha RC, a second-year BCom student at Alva’s College in Moodabidri, died after she collapsed while presenting a paper in her class on Friday.
The college principal, Dr Kurian, told sources that it was the third lecture of the day, and Niveditha was very excited about presenting her paper. She had even asked her friends to ask questions after her presentation.
Unfortunately, she collapsed soon after uttering the first three sentences during her presentation. The lecturer and the other students rushed her to Alva’s Health Centre, where she was declared dead on arrival, Dr Kurian said. Niveditha was a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar in Bengaluru. She was the daughter of Chandrashekar R, a retired librarian of Bangalore University, and Varalakshmi. the parents set off for Mangaluru on late Friday afternoon on receiving the tragic news. The cause of Niveditha’s death will be ascertained after the postmortem examination is conducted and the result obtained.
Niveditha was in her fourth year at Alva’s College. A month ago, Niveditha had complained of giddiness. The doctors who treated her had then given her some vitamin tablets assuming it to be a case of fatigue. The police said her local guardian informed them that she had been suffering from low blood pressure. Her classmates informed the police that Niveditha had health problems. Her body has been shifted to AJ Hospital. A case has been registered with the Moodabidri police.
