Udupi, June 5, 2015 :  Deputy Commissioner Dr. R Vishal said 24x7 control room is set up to tackle possible emergencies during the monsoon on it’s way.


Monsoon mishaps - Control cell set upAddressing officials, he said concerned officials from police department, health department, zilla panchayat, city municipal corporation, town municipality, taluk office, Mescom should be alert and equipped with know-how to attend any emergency faced by the people.


He directed officials to be in the district headquarters during monsoon. He listed out responsibility allocatin. The toll free number for this purpose would be 1077 or control room number would be 2574802.

He stressed that dedicated measures should be taken to avoid spreading of communicable diseases, also measures should be taken to remove silt in storm water drains. The control room in taluk offices should be constantly monitored and officials should attend complaints without any delay.

The DC also said that ’monsoon task force’ would be set up for national highway division. He directed officials to provide post mortem report earliest for unnatural deaths in monsoon days. He said education department officials should be prepared to take up measures to avoid any untoward incidents. He said measures should be taken to create awareness among children regarding rain dangers. He directed veterinary department officials to take up vaccination for pet animals and provide post mortem report in case of death of livestock.

He said wooden planks placed across vented dams would be removed. The fishing ban would be imposed strictly and warnings of  danger issued regularly to fishing community during monsoon.

He said the Tahsildar has been ordered to set up communication plan. The rain damage reports would be dispatched immediately to the DC office. The officials should put up sign boards with warning messages at mining and quarrying areas. Owners would be sued if accidents take place in mining and quarrying units. The DC Office should be informed over the road and bridge damages and all untoward happenings.
