Mangaluru, Oct 15, 2018: District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai has come down heavily on the Sangh Parivar leaders for allegedly offending DK District in-charge Minister UT Khader over the proposed modernisation programme of abattoirs.
Speaking to reporters here on October 15, Monday, Rai while pointing out that India ranked first in the world in beef business, added that 75% of the beef businesses were run by Hindus including even BJP MPs. "Let the Sangh Parivar protest against the Centre if it had the courage to do so," he challenged.
Khader had just given a suggestion to include modernisation of abattoirs under the Smart City Project. Solely on this pretext, the VHP had abused the minister in foul language he said and added that such acts were unwelcome.
"The Smart City Project has proposal for development of abattoirs keeping in mind the cleanliness aspect. The BJP leaders ought to have opposed it at the initial stage itself. As there is a BJP government at the Centre, they still can have their way by pressurising the Union Government. Instead of that, they are resorting to politics through protests," he alleged.
Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, Youth Congress leaders Neeraj Pal, Premnath, Girish Shetty and others were present.
