Minister visits Pachanady land slip site ;directs authorities to pay compensation

Mangaluru, Feb 29,2020: State Minister for Urban Development Byrathi Basavaraj who visited the Pachanady garbage slip site on February 29, Saturday, has instructed District Administration and Mangaluru City Corporation to provide suitable compensation to the affected families.
The minister also directed the officials to construct a retention wall in order to ensure that no garbage slips into the nearby private lands in the future.
Members of the affected families who were present during the minister’s visit told the minister that the officials has shown least interest in securing them justice despite several representations.
It may be recalled here that compensation has eluded the affected families even nine months after the incident.
