Mangaluru Sep 6, 2016: Water Resources Minister M B Patil should tender his resignation over the Cauvery row, or else the Chief Minister should sack him, demanded Senior Congress Leader B Janardhana Poojary.
Addressing media persons at Press Club today September 6, Tuesday he said that the Government should have cross checked before submitting its plea before the Supreme Court. If CM had earlier refused to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, the plea before the Supreme Court states that it would provide 10,000 cusecs water to Tamil Nadu, Poojary said adding that it on this note that the Supreme Court recently directed Karnataka to release 15,000 cusecs water to Tamil Nadu.
He also said that MB Patil does not deserve to be the minister as he changes his stance every now and then over Cauvery row.
Poojary was also critical of the state government for appointing contractors from neighbouring states for implementation of several schemes in Karnataka. If the Congress government continues such policies then it will face heavy defeat in upcoming elections, warned Poojary.
Congress Leader Kallige Tharnath Shetty, Arun Coelho, Karunakar Shetty, Umesh Chandra and others were present.
