Congress- BJP leaders lock horns at Bantwal
There was a heated exchange of words between BJP and Congress leaders at Bantwal prior to the inaugural of the Indira Canteen over the participation of former minister and former MLA of Bantwal B Ramanatha Rai in the function.
It has been gathered that the BJP did not want Rai to attend the function and had even appealed to the Tahsildar in this regard. However, there arose confusion when Rai arrived at the venue. The Congress leaders even questioned the BJP men as to why they opposed Rai’s presence at the function.
A large number of crowd had gathered at the venue. There was also slogan shouting by both sides. The police who were present ensured here was no untoward incident.
Later, though BJP leaders including local MLA Rajesh Naik and MP Nalin Kumar were present during the inaugural, they abstained from the formal function organised to mark the inaugural.
