Mangaluru, Nov 3, 2017: The giant tidal waves, the effect of cyclone Ockhi, has had its impact at Seaground area of Ullal where two houses were engulfed by the sea on December 2, Saturday.
The sea had surged as much as 200 meters resulting in the mishap which left no signs of the existence of the two houses belonging to Everest Alphonse and Philomena Fernandes. It was indeed a rude shock for the residents of the area who had just returned at around 10 pm after the Saturday evening prayers at the Church.
The loss has been estimated at several lakhs of rupees. If Philomena, her husband and son lived in one house, the other house engulfed by the sea was occupied by Alphonse and his wife.
Meanwhile another house belonging to Avil has been damaged.
As many as 50 houses in Ullal area have been endangered by the rough sea and occupants of the houses have been shifted to safer locations.
