Mayor inaugurates football tournament on Nehru Maidan

Mangalore, July 18: Mayor Praveen Anchan inaugurated the 15th Independence Cup Football Tournament organized by the DK Football Association on Nehru Maidan on July 18 Monday.

In his inaugural address, he said that the Mangalore City Corporation will support the development of Nehru Maidan and will encourage sports people to practice sports there. He urged the participants to play with the true spirit of sport.

Speaking on the occasion, Corporator Diwakar said that he will donate money for the renovation of the dressing room at Nehru Maidan.

Karnataka Bank General Manager Jayaram Hande was the chief guest of the event.

D M Aslam, President of DKFA, Shekar Putran, Prof. Abdulla, PCM Kunni, and many others were the dignitaries on the dais.

Husain Bolar, Secretary of DKFA welcomed the gathering. Umesh Uchil proposed vote of thanks.

The first match was played between Cambridge Higher Primary School and Kannur Higher Primary School.

A total of 150 teams will participate in this tournament.
