Mangaluru Sep 29, 2016: Mayor Harinath launched Child Beggary Eradication Campaign outside MCC on September 29, Thursday. The campaign is jointly organized by Besant College, Padi Child Line, Social Welfare Department and Rotary Club.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Harinath said that some children who are deprived of education due to financial constraints resort to begging. It is necessary to create awareness among the public to discourage child beggary. Harinath also lauded the initiative of Besant College for conducting campaign to eradicate child beggary from the society.
The Mayor released hand bills on eradication of child beggary.
Chief Whip of MCC Shashidhar Hegde, Deputy Mayor Sumithra, DCP Sanjeev Patil, DySP Valentine D’Souza and others were present.
