Mangaluru July 21, 2016: Mayor Harinath inaugurates 20th Independence cup Football tournament at Nehru Maidan today July 21, Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion he said that, football is the famous sport all over the world and in India too. It is necessary to encourage the football players of this district to shine in state and national level. MCC has taken up the initiative in providing facilities for this sport and government has already sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for the new football turf.

President of District Football Association Aslam owed gratitude for MCC for their enormous support from past 20 years and after several attempts now the government has sanctioned 1 crore for the new football turf out of which 25 lakhs has been transferred to DC office to start the work of the new turf.

Former Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.

The young ones have to be given a good coaching as have financial problems though they want to be apart of game should also given support by the MCC by giving a free coaching to such. Wish a sucessful 20the year of FootBall Tournament
