The delegation urged Mr. Singh that the Union government should provide maximum compensation to the families of seven fishermen on-board a fishing boat, Suvarna Tribhuja from Malpe, which went missing off Malvan Coast in Maharashtra on December 15, 2018.

The wreckage of Suvarna Tribhuja was found in Arabian Sea off Malvan coast on May 1 by the Indian Navy. It was found through side scan sonar operations and was confirmed by the naval divers, who had undertaken saturation diving at a depth of 60 metres. The State government had already provided a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh each to the kin of the seven missing fishermen in May.

Veljibhai, President of All India Fishermen’s Forum, Yashpal Suvarna, President of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Fish Marketing Federation, Satish Kundar, former President of Malpe Fishermen’s Association, were among those present in the delegation.
