Manoj murder: Main accused Vikraman surrenders

Kannur, Sep 12, 2014 : The prime accused in the RSS activist Elanthottathil Manoj murder case, Venattenteveetil Vikraman surrendered on Thursday.

He came to the Judicial First Class Magistrate court 2 here along with advocate Viswan, who fights cases for CPM.

The court has sent Vikraman in police custody up to September 25 and asked the police to submit a detailed report of the investigation.

Pramod, who was with Manoj when the attack took place, had identified CPM activist Vikraman (42) as the main accused in the Manoj murder case. The accused is a confidant of a top CPM leader in Kannur.

According to eyewitnesses, Vikraman had led a team to kill Manoj. Manoj was forced out of the van after crude bombs were thrown at the van and was axed to death by Vikraman.

Manoj was murdered on September 1 and Vikraman was spotted in and around Thalassery during that time, the police had said.

Even though the police had started a search immediately after the murder, it is believed that he went into hiding with support from influential people.
