Manipal, Jan 07, 2019: The result of the Common Admission Test (CAT) that was announced at the week end, has brought cheers to management aspirants from Karnataka, with many qualifying for entry into Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) across the country.
Niranjan Prasad is one among the 11 toppers and the only candidate from Karnataka to score an overall 100 percentile in the CAT conducted by IIM-Calcutta in November.
Niranjan, a native of Manipal, is currently pursuing Mechanical dual degree programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai.
Niranjan’s father Jayadev Prasad Moleyar is a professor and head of the department at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering at Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada, and mother Keerthana Prasad is a professor at Manipal University.
An elated Niranjan shared his joy with media, “I am really glad with the results and I look forward to admission offer from all the seven prominent IIMs across the country. I am still thinking on whether to pursue a career in the field of technology or take up management. I have also been considering a masters programme abroad. I will discuss with my parents and well-wishers before taking a final call.”
“Economics is one of my favourite subjects and I have been observing the development of Indian economy meticulously for some time. I want to contribute to the country’s economy in a big way and I would work in that direction,” he said.
Niranjan, who did not avail any special coaching for CAT, attributed his success to his parents and said his discussions with father, who is also an economist, helped a lot.
