Manipal, Mar 22, 2018: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) student died when he drove at speed on a path on NH66 where construction work was on, without taking a diversion near Naraltaya Shrine at Tenka Yermal village, under Padubidri police station limits. at night.
The police identified the deceased as Sujay Gaddi, 24, a first year M. Tech student at MIT. Sujay and two other friends had left Manipal at 10.30 p.m. to eat at a dhaba at Hejmady. The friends – Nitin M.S. and Sohan – were on one motorcycle, while Sujay was on another. He had overtaken them. When Nitin and Sohan reached Hejmady and found no sign of Sujay, they started back on the same road. When they reached Naraltaya Shrine, they found a crowd gathered there. A severely injured Sujay was found dead there with his motorcycle.
Sujay did not see the diversion and rode on to the path dug for construction and lost control of the vehicle, fell, and died. A case has been registered at Padubidri police station.
