Manipal gang rape : Court orders shifting of accused Anand to Shimoga prison

Udupi, july 5, 2013 :  If Hariprasad one of the three accused in the Manipal gang rape case  is already lodged in Shimoga jail for security reasons, the court,  on July 5, Friday, also ordered shifting of another accused Anand to the Shimoga jail.

Anand  was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on July 5, Friday consequent upon the end of his police custody period. The court has now remanded him to judicial custody till July 15.

It may be recalled here that Anand too had attempted suicide by hanging himself prior to his arrest, but was timely saved by the police.  He was recently discharged from hospital and taken to police custody.

The police fear that the  accused may be attacked  in the prison as there is much anger over the incident.

It is learnt, the prime accused Yogish is still in hospital and is said to be recovering.
