Manipal gang rape: Court orders DNA test of 2 accused

Udupi, July 1, 2013: Two of the three accused in the Manipal gang rape case-Anand and Hariprasad were produced before the District Court on July 1, Monday. The court has remanded them to five days of police custody while also ordering to conduct their DNA Test.

Anand who was earlier in hospital after he attempted suicide by hanging himself before he could be arrested, was discharged  on June 30, Sunday.  Another accused Hariprasad was initially sent to five days of police custody.Now, his police custody period has been extended by five more days.

 

Later both the accused were taken to Government Hospital, Ajjarkad for medical tests. The date on which the DNA test will be done is not yet known.

The condition of another accused Yogish who too had attempted suicide by consuming poison is said to be improving.
