Manipal gang rape : BJP trying to gain political advantage, alleges Udupi MLA

Udupi, June 29, 2013:  Pramod Madhwaraj, Legislator of Udupi, has charged the BJP of resorting to a malicious propaganda against Congress leaders including  district in-charge minister, MLA and the government of trying to shield the culprits behind the Manipal gang rape case, even when the police department and the government was ceaselessly striving to  get a breakthrough in the case.

Speaking to reporters here, he accused the BJP of trying to take political advantage of the situation even while the fact was that the Congress workers had extended wholehearted co-operation to the police in the investigation.

 On the allegations that the accused are Congress workers, he said a person found guilty in any case will have to be punished irrespective of the party affiliations.

On this occasion, the MLA also urged the police to try to find out if the arrested persons had any links with the saffron brigade.

Police informers, Sukesh Kunder and Wilson, Congress leaders, Diwakar Kunder, Narasimha Murthy, Dinesh and some others were present at the press conference.
