Udupi, June 27, 2013: There has been a new twist to the investigations into the alleged gang rape of Manipal University’s medical student. If the IGP had earlier in the day confirmed that two accused namely Yogish and Hariprasad (Harish) have been arrested and that search for the third accused was on, latest reports reveal that all the three are in police net with the third accused too attempting suicide, but however surviving.
If Yogish, one of the accused who was earlier arrested had attempted suicide by consuming poison even before the police could apprehend him, the third accused Anand who was earlier suspected to have fled to Goa, was found hanging from a tree at Parkala but was timely saved. It is learnt, he was apprehended late in the evening on June 27, Thursday at Badagubettu, Parkala.
The police could apprehend him on time before he could succumb due to hanging, as they rushed to spot on receiving a phone call that someone was trying to hang himself in the woods.
He is said to be recovering at the KMC hospital. It has been reliably learnt that the victim knew Anand through his wife.
Sources revealed that though Anand had to go to Goa on some work, he had remained at home after sending someone else in his place.
Investigations are underway.

All the three are Bajrang Dal members and have been active in moral policing and other communal atrocities during the past few years. Now what the BJP and RSS have got to say in the rape case? They knew that their own men were behind the crime. That’s why, they did not come out to stage protest. The Manipal University also happened to be BJP supporters. Now you know, how politics ruin our society. |
