Manipal: Three Konkani community stalwarts receive ’Konkani Awards’

Manipal, June 8, 2014: Multilingual cine celebrity Ananth Nag, Famous lyricist of Mungaru Male fame, poet, story writer Jayanth Kaikini received achievers awards. Well known writer Surya Ashok was conferred with Dr T M A Pai Best Book award for his Konkani book. The annual awards for Outstanding Konkani’s, Achievement Awards, the Dr T M A Pai Konkani Book Awards, by Dr T M A Pai Foundation, Manipal, were presented to the stalwarts at the Hotel Valley View International, auditorium on Saturday June 7.

 

The winning personalities were introduced by Principal T Ranga Pai Dr T M A Pai Polytechnic’s education , Sharada Residential School principal Vidyavant Acharya and  Head master K Vinayak Kini Indrali English Medium High School.  Founder president T Mohandas Pai presented the award to Ananth Nag. Manipal University chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai presented the award to Jayanth Kaikini. Ashok Pai presented the Best Konkani Book award to writer Surya Ashok. The outstanding Konkani’s were honoured with a shawl, citation, bouquet and a cash award of  Rs One lakh.  Best book awardee Surya Ashok was honoured with flowers, shawl, citation and cash award of Rs. 25,000/-.  T Mohandas Pai welcomed the gathering. Vidyavant Acharya compered the programme and Dr H Shanthram delivered the vote of thanks. There was a formidable gathering to  grace the occasion.
