Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2017: The city is set to have a new Clock Tower at Hampankatta close by the place where the earlier iconic Clock Tower, which was the landmark of Mangaluru existed but was demolished by the MCC years ago to facilitate road widening.
It was Mangaluru Mayor Kavitha Sanil’s keenness that has revived the new Clock Tower Project which would now be part of the Smart City Project. The blue print of the new Clock Tower is ready and the tender process is presently underway. The foundation laying ceremony of the Clock Tower project is scheduled to take place very soon.
The Clock Tower will have four huge clocks and a garden beneath. The project is estimated to cost Rs 90 lakhs. The Clock Tower with attractive features will also have a Gandhi statue.
