Mangaluru, Mar 14, 2015: As per reliable reports, Dakshina Kannada District has recorded an H1N1 death with a 62-year-old man succumbing to the flu it is the first one on record.
It is stated, the man had collapsed on March 1 during a religious ritual and he was treated locally.
On March 7 he developed breathing problems and was admitted to a hospital in the city after he was administered Tamiflu at auxiliary care centre near Yedapadavu. He died on March 11 night.
His wife also tested positive on March 13 and she has been in isolation. Dr B V Rajesh, district surveillance officer, said the woman was out of danger. The district has so far recorded 38 cases of which many are from the district.
