Mangaluru, Dec 30, 2023: In anticipation of the upcoming New Year celebrations, the Mangalore Police Commissionerate has made elaborate arrangements across the city to ensure the safety and security of the public. This information was shared by Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal during a press conference held at the police commissioner’s office on Saturday.
Agarwal stated that applications for organizing events have been received for various venues, including churches, hotels, restaurants, and private auditoriums. With the necessary permissions and compliance with regulations, organizers within the city limits are allowed to conduct events until 12:30 AM. Those organizing events at beaches or other outdoor venues are required to conclude them by 10 PM.
As part of the security measures, 66 mobile units, including 17 Hoysala vehicles, have been deployed. Additionally, 106 points have been identified for surveillance, with police officials and civil defense personnel overseeing the proceedings. Strict actions are planned against those found violating regulations, especially related to drunk driving.
The police have also taken measures against drug-related activities, with four teams conducting operations. Stringent measures, including strict monitoring and lighting arrangements, have been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents at beaches. Local authorities will collaborate directly with 112 control room officials for effective coordination.
