Speaking on the occasion Ramalinga Reddy said that, Government’s primary objective is to provide good service to the public, so far 20 depots will come up under NURM scheme and another four to five depot will add on to it.

He also said that, KSRTC should conduct grievance readdressed meeting with the presence of officials and the public through which problems can be chalked out during the meeting.

The newly built bus stand will come up within 2 months time at the estimated budget of 7.5 crores and bus stand in Sullia is under process and new bus stand in Dharmastala is also proposed.

Reacting to the appeal made by Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo to develop a transport hub by shifting the existing KSRTC bus stand at Bejai, next to the site identified for building private bus stand near Pumpwell, Reddy said: "We are ready if the site was given for free. Recently, the transport corporation was handed five acres of land for free at Dharmasthala."

On the demand for giving due preference to local candidates during recruitments, the minister said not many locals are willing to apply for the jobs here. Similar is the situation in Puttur and Chamarajanagar district, he added.    Reddy also clarified that, in the wake of poor response from local candidates, it was only recently that the newly recruited candidates from north Karnataka posted at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada, were transferred to their native places, after conducting another round of recruitment to fill the gap.

Earlier, Lobo, who brought relevant issues affecting the district to the notice of the minister, said, "If the transport corporation buys some land at Pumpwell, it will not just enable shifting of the bus stand, but also expansion works if any in the future. In the case of existing bus stand at Bejai, it’s too difficult to make way through busy traffic junctions on the way."

District In Charge Minister Ramanath Rai, MLA JR Lobo, Shakuntala Shetty, KSRTC Director K Sudhir and others were present.
