Mangaluru, July 15, 2019: Hundreds of people under the aegis of Sethuve Horata Samithi staged a protest in front of the DC office here on July 15, Monday alleging inaction on the part of the district administration as well as the elected representatives in reconstructing the bridge at Mullerapatna though it has been over a year since the bridge which is a vital link between Mangaluru and Bantwal taluks had collapsed.
The Committee has also threatened to intensify its protest by observing a bundh if the demand to reconstruct the bridge was not fulfilled.
Committee Vice President Jayanth Badagabellur said the number of children attending classes at the Muttur school has reduced after the bridge collapse. Many have enrolled their children to other schools, he said.
Committee President Hariyappa Muttur and several locals were present. The protestors said the protest will continue until the DC arrives and receives their memorandum.
